Ciao! I’m Rosa. And I love food! I enjoy cooking, eating and traveling (among many other crafty things)! A new passion of mine is photography! While I’m still in the process of learning and discovering more and more about my new camera, I was looking for a way to combine these passions and share them with you. At this point, a special thank you to Tony, who has introduced me to the manual functions of my camera, that I was fearing so much :) So here is my blog where you will find traditional Italian dishes that I grew up with, as well as recipes with a Mediterranean influence from other countries.
As an Italian, born and raised in Germany, growing up with the southern Italian (food) traditions, including spending hours sitting around the table and everything that comes with it, having a brother who’s a chef, being married to an American man, loving to travel and exploring other countries and their cultures, growing up with friends from so many different cultural backgrounds and religions … all of this motivated me to create this blog and to introduce to you the wonderful flavors of the Mediterranean!
Each time I go see my family in Sicily and Calabria I can’t believe how intense the fruits and vegetables smell and taste! It blows me away! Be it the sun, or the fertile soil that make the difference, tasting my family’s homemade extra virgin olive oil – which is btw the only one that I use when I cook – their wine and all the other countless delicious homemade products make me feel like being in southern Italy. Going to the countryside and eating fresh figs right after picking them from the tree, while you can see the sticky milky liquid still coming out of the fruit is priceless!
Fine, enough daydreaming..back to reality ;) I’m in Germany, and no matter where you are right now, these days we can get pretty much every ingredient, no matter on which continent. And most of the time it’s so simple and it takes only a very few steps to create a delicious and genuine dish. And if you close your eyes, it might take you to Italy, France, Spain, Greece or somewhere in Northern Africa, without even travelling ;)
Come and join me on this culinary journey through the Mediterranean!
Thank you for visiting Mediterranealicious! Enjoy :)
