Ciao! I’m Rosa. And I love food! I enjoy cooking, eating and traveling (among many other crafty things)! A new passion of mine is photography! While I’m still in the process of learning and discovering more and more about my new camera, I was looking for a way to combine these passions and share them with you. At this point, a special thank you to Tony, who has introduced me to the manual functions of my camera, that I was fearing so much :) So here is my blog where you will find traditional Italian dishes that I grew up with, as well as recipes with a Mediterranean influence from other countries.
As an Italian, born and raised in Germany, growing up with the southern Italian (food) traditions, including spending hours sitting around the table and everything that comes with it, having a brother who’s a chef, being married to an American man, loving to travel and exploring other countries and their cultures, growing up with friends from so many different cultural backgrounds and religions … all of this motivated me to create this blog and to introduce to you the wonderful flavors of the Mediterranean!
Each time I go see my family in Sicily and Calabria I can’t believe how intense the fruits and vegetables smell and taste! It blows me away! Be it the sun, or the fertile soil that make the difference, tasting my family’s homemade extra virgin olive oil – which is btw the only one that I use when I cook – their wine and all the other countless delicious homemade products make me feel like being in southern Italy. Going to the countryside and eating fresh figs right after picking them from the tree, while you can see the sticky milky liquid still coming out of the fruit is priceless!
Fine, enough daydreaming..back to reality ;) I’m in Germany, and no matter where you are right now, these days we can get pretty much every ingredient, no matter on which continent. And most of the time it’s so simple and it takes only a very few steps to create a delicious and genuine dish. And if you close your eyes, it might take you to Italy, France, Spain, Greece or somewhere in Northern Africa, without even travelling ;)
Come and join me on this culinary journey through the Mediterranean!
Thank you for visiting Mediterranealicious! Enjoy :)

Hi Rosa!!
I found your blog through FoodGawker (your recipe for Cantuccini) and I couldn’t believe it, when I read your About page. :-)
My name is also Rosa and my family is also from Calabria. I was born and raised in Canada but have been living in Germany for the last seven years. I moved here shortly having married my German husband. I live outside the Hamburg area.
What part of Calabria is your parent(s) from? My parents come from a small town called Marcedusa and it’s about an hour’s drive from Crotone and from Catanzaro.
I would love to hear from you! Email me at rosasdolcevita@gmail.com when you get a chance. I signed up for future posts via email. :-)
Looking forward to hearing from you. :-)
Un forte abbraccio, Rosa

Ciao Rosa!
I found you as I was looking for the biscotti recipe, cantuccini, and here I am.
My name is Zoe (that is life/vita translated in English/Italian) and I’m Greek being in Melbourne for the past two years.
What you write reminded me of my beloved country, which is so similar to yours, in every aspect. I think all Mediterranean people should feel lucky coming from the south, as all these countries combine beautiful landscapes with great culture and long history.
Keep going with your beautiful site and god bless you and your family.
Regards,
Zoe

Yassou Zoe! What a beautiful name :) Thank you so much for your note! I totally agree, the countries in the Mediterranean do have a lot in common, and hopefully the people who live there don’t take the treasures that they have for granted. We are blessed with so many wonderful things that we miss even more when we live far away. The least I can do through my blog is introduce our culture, food and much more to everyone out there, who appreciate it as much as we do.
Btw, I am traveling to Santorini in a few days! And I am so excited going back there after so many years! Already looking forward to take tons of pictures of one of the most breathtaking islands out there, while looking for inspirations for new flavors and recipes to post! I hope to see you here soon, and I will do my best to bring Greece a little closer to :)
God bless you, e a presto!

Hi Rosa-
I just found your blog, and I absolutely love it! I was raised by my Italian grandparents in America. My Grandmother was from Southern Italy, while my Grandfather was from Polfi. They have passed on, and I really miss them. Your blog has given me a little taste of “home” and has inspired me to cook our traditional foods again. Your work is beautiful. Thank you for putting it out there!
Christina
