Today\u2019s post is about a very simple snack for all fig lovers out there. And it comes in two versions. I thought I would post both, as they aren\u2019t only beautiful to look at, but even more.. so good to eat!<\/span><\/p>\n

There is something special about figs that I can\u2019t even explain. Maybe it\u2019s the beautiful childhood memories that I associate to this fruit, when I used to go to the countryside<\/a><\/span> to pick them with my little basket. This combination with cheese is more French than Italian though. At least in my family we eat figs just like that, fresh. Some might turn them into homemade jam, like my aunt. The most traditional recipe involves drying figs and filling them with either walnuts or almonds. My cousin even covers them with chocolate\u2026hmmm. I would love to post that recipe here one day. As this requires a lot of sun, and constant warm temperatures in the summer, it\u2019s quite a challenge to do that in Germany. But I\u2019ll put it on my to-do list for next summer when I go to Italy :)<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, enjoy these ones here! You can serve them either with or without bread. Goat cheese is my favorite cheese in combination with this fruit. If you\u2019re more into stronger flavored ones, try out gorgonzola<\/em> or a similar blue cheese. It\u2019s all a matter of taste!<\/span><\/p>\n
