Last year we were sitting in a brand new huge buffet that had just opened in Las Vegas, when we had our first watermelon juice. More and more glasses followed. We just couldn’t stop drinking it! Why on earth has it never crossed my mind to make one myself at home? And, I have never run into one anywhere else either! It’s part of the main summer fruits that we eat, and for whatever reason I never considered drinking<\/em> a watermelon rather than just eat<\/em> it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Most fruits require a juice maker, while the watermelon consists mostly of water, which should make it so much easier to blend. No additional technology required. So I couldn’t resist, and I had to try myself. And here is the result.<\/p>\n

Ingredients:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

watermelon<\/span><\/p>\n

alternatively fresh mint leaves<\/span><\/p>\n

ice cubes<\/span><\/p>\n

Cut the watermelon into big pieces and blend until you get a smooth juice\u00a0(add ice cubs either now or right before serving).\u00a0<\/em>Serve either like that, or with fresh mint leaves, which add a very nice and refreshing additional flavor to it.<\/span><\/p>\n

After trying my homemade version, compared to the first one I had at that restaurant, I immediately noticed that mine was not as watery. It was a bit thicker and more creamy. I must say that both are very tasty. So it’s up to you to pick your favorite one! If you prefer the more watery one, all you need to do is to\u00a0strain\u00a0<\/em>it.<\/span>
\nAs far as ice cubes are concerned, I prefer to avoid using ice. Simply because the watermelon already contains a lot of water, and adding additional ice would make it lose taste. Alternatively, I’d rather freeze the watermelon before for a while before blending.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
