When I started blogging – almost a year ago – the first recipe I shared with you was my grandma’s lemon granita. Shortly after I posted about watermelon juice. And now here I am, combining those two recipes by adding a little twist of rose water. The outcome is a super refreshing frozen dessert that you don’t wanna miss this summer!

Ok, to be honest, my plan was to make a simple watermelon granita. While the bottle of rose water was still in the fridge, waiting for its next assignment. I had no idea how well they would blend! Feel free to use a little more – but not too much though. Its sole purpose is to add a little rose flavor to it. And should you not be a big fan of rose water, don’t add it. It tastes great even without it!

I don’t like it very sweet. That is why I used only a minimum of sugar. But feel free to adjust to your taste. If you want to make an even healthier version of it, you can also use a sugar substitute like agave nectar.

WATERMELON GRANITA WITH ROSE WATER

Ingredients:

1 kg / 35 oz watermelon pulp

200 ml / 6¾fl oz of water

50 gr / 1¾ oz of sugar

juice of 1 lemon

2 tsp of rose water (or more to taste)

* * * * *

Bring the water and sugar to a boil.
