A few weeks ago, when I posted goat cheese-lavender honey with baguette<\/span><\/a><\/span>, I bought a bouquet of fresh edible lavender. There is no way I could have used all of it. So I decided to dry it. And this was the beginning of a little project.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Have I mentioned how much I love this plant? I am totally fond of it! The color, the smell, everything! That is why this week I decided to dedicate this post entirely to this wonderful plant: A tribute to lavender!<\/span><\/p>\n

To be honest, it wasn’t even planned. I had the lavender spread all over the table, making little bouquets. And what I saw looked so beautiful that I could not resist. I grabbed right away my camera and started taking pictures!<\/span><\/p>\n

The reason why I tied little bouquets is because I heard that it is easier to dry them that way. If the bouquet is too big they run the risk to mold. Not sure whether that is true, but I know that it worked just fine that way. I hung them along the heater in the bedroom (the smell of the blossoms wouldn’t have bothered at all..). Then I covered them with some paper. That way I could avoid exposing them to too much light and protect them from any dust. Especially because I wanted to keep some of the blossoms to be eaten later.<\/span><\/p>\n

About 2 weeks later I started with the details of my lavender project:<\/span><\/p>\n

I sewed little pillows that I filled with the blossoms. I used leftover pieces of fabric and cut them into a rectangle, folded it up once into a square and sewed the edges. These can be either put into the drawer together with the clothes, or under a pillow at night, thanks to its calming and soporific effects. Don’t they look like a cute gift idea?<\/span><\/p>\n

Another part went into a jar mixed with sugar to sweeten desserts or similar. I also kept some blossoms in a separate jar, to be used later on to sprinkle on cheese, to cook or bake.<\/span><\/p>\n

And with the leftover lavender, I ended up making a bouquet to decorate the house. In order to last longer and to keep the color, I sprayed it with hairspray.<\/span><\/p>\n
