This recipe is so simple that I wasn’t even sure whether to post it or not. But who says that a real recipe has to be complicated with a lot of ingredients, right? When I see salad recipes, most of the time they come with all kind of flavored vinaigrette. Don’t get me wrong, I really like them! I’m all for different kind of flavors than the ones I’m used to from back home. But sometimes, when you have really great tasting produce, you don’t need much seasonings. Tomatoes are a great example. If you have tasty ones available, I mean those that when you cut them, the entire kitchen will magically smell like them! These don’t require more than some good extra virgin olive oil, salt and basil and/or oregano. Its simplicity is stunning! It makes you wonder how something so basic can taste so so good.
I have probably said this before, but I just love it when I can taste every simple ingredient of what I’m eating! And I hope you do enjoy this tasty tomato salad, too!
- extra virgin olive oil
- Cut the tomatoes into larger chunks or slices.
- Season with salt, oregano, basil leaves and extra virgin olive oil.
- Feel free to add garlic, onion, mozzarella or a little balsamic vinegar. This salad goes perfectly well with grilled ciabatta or any kind of rustic bread.
