Well, so my plan was to add a healthy dish recipe today. And wow!! I had no idea how I ended up in the kitchen with a French chocolate recipe book in my hands. And let me tell you, these soft chocolate candies are sinfully delicious! It overwhelms you with all kind of feelings.. A bit of ‘no way I can eat this’, to ‘ohhhh, this tastes so so so good!’, while ignoring the calories that you just ate.
But isn’t chocolate meant to be irresistible? All I want to add is a little warning: No matter how much you feel like wanting to eat them all yourself, you might be wise enough to share them with your family, friends or neighbors :) After all, isn’t Christmas approaching? I think these sweet treats are a wonderful gift idea, wrapped up in a cute gift box.
Honestly, I wish I could say that this recipe is all mine. A fruit of my creation. As simple as it is, consisting of barely 3 ingredients, I am glad I found this book while I was in France. I went to a book store, aiming the shelf with chocolate recipes. And this one caught my attention right away. Chocolate! And lots of it! In all kind of versions. So this one here I had to share with you! And I’m pretty sure that more recipes will follow ;) As for now, enjoy this one!
Ingredients:
400 g / 14 oz of dark chocolate
400 ml / 13,5 fl oz of sweetened condensed milk
150 g / 5¼ oz of butter (with salt crystals)
butter for the baking pan
* * * * *
Brush a little butter in the baking pan and then cover it with baking paper.
Put the chopped chocolate in a pot. Add the sweetened condensed milk. Let it melt at low heat.
Increase to medium heat. While stirring, let the mixture thicken during 7min.
Add the chopped butter and stir. (Note: I used regular butter, as I couldn’t find the one mentioned in the original recipe.)
As soon as the mixture is well mixed and creamy, pour into the baking sheet. Flatten the surface with a spatula.
After cooling off, refrigerate for at least 3h.
Finally, cut the chocolate into rectangular pieces and wrap in wax paper squares.
Store them in a cool place.
Prep Time: 30min + 3h (in the fridge)
Serves: approx. 30 pieces
